The Flying Ruler app offers a unique approach to measuring distances and angles by allowing users to simply move their device between points. This innovative application integrates multiple functionalities, serving as a ruler, tape measure, rangefinder, protractor, and 3D angle finder—all within a single platform. The app focuses on delivering a swift and efficient measuring experience.

Utilizing the principles of inertial navigation systems (INS), the app determines device position through its accelerometer and gyroscope. As a result, users can expect not only quick measurements but also commendable accuracy, supported by over 11 years of continuous improvement in the underlying computational algorithms.

The effectiveness of this technology can be explored through the complimentary "Digital Angle Finder: 3D Meter," which offers angle measurement through device movement.

The app accommodates various measurement modes, allowing users to select the most suitable option for their specific needs. Measurements can be taken using the device's body or through a virtual tape measure. Users can measure not only objects but also distances between walls, as well as angles on surfaces and in three-dimensional space.

Users have the flexibility to choose between inches and centimeters, with the maximum measurable distance capped at 999 ft for the imperial system and 99 m for the metric system. The app's design enables measurements to be taken around obstacles, enhancing usability.

Flying Ruler is effective for assessing both large distances and small measurements with the precision of a standard ruler. Additionally, the app allows users to save measurements by taking photographs and marking the measured locations.

The measurement accuracy has been validated through thorough testing, yielding consistent results across different devices:

The app provides angle measurement capability with an accuracy of one degree, effectively serving as a substitute for traditional protractors and angle finders.
